Willie's Disc Golf History in his own words:

"I was introduced to Disc Golf by my brother in law Tom just over 3 years ago and it’s become a huge part of my life. My rating is currently 951 and I am sponsored by RPM Discs In the Tribe team.

My biggest achievement to date would be winning the Contribution to NZ Disc Golf Award 2020. Having my name on this prestigious trophy next to people like Simon Feasey, Bob Gentil, Pete Crowther and James Smithells is something that will always be very special to me.

Making my first Super Six/Top Card playoff at The Te Wāhi Tapu, Lake Oahu event in 2020 Organised by Morgan Harteveld. Playing alongside a good mate of mine and NZ Tour champ 2020 Jackson Sullivan and team members, Kyle Martin and Dom Hayden - a highlight of my short career and I enjoyed every moment of it. Being on camera and playing alongside some of the top guys was a dream.

I am also the co-founder of the Ōtautahi Bag Tag group. We currently have 150+ members in our group. Ages range from 9 - 70. Male and female golfers. We run events, pop ups and support any local groups looking to push the sport in any way.

In my spare time I also teach disc golf at two schools. For around 30 - 40 young teenagers at my home course Brooker Ave Disc Golf Course. I love being able to give back to the young people and it’s so good to see the sport grow and be embraced by so many. It’s only the start and I look forward to watching it grow over the next few years.

I also have two Autistic sons, aged 8 and 12 and they keep me very busy. They both love disc golf, especially my youngest boy Che. Over the lock down period we were able to make trick shot videos in our backyard which was such a great father son experience. We even got featured on the Innova Discs #stayhomediscgolf video. Which was awesome."
